WHAT IS BOOKSHARE?

Bookshare is a FREE, federally-funded library of ebooks designed for students with learning differences. Students who struggle with traditional books are empowered to read in ways that work for them with specialized ebooks in audio, audio with highlighted text, large font, and braille. Paired with popular assistive reading tools, reading is easier.

Who is it for?

Bookshare® is available only for individuals who have a qualifying reading or perceptual disability, a visual impairment, or a physical disability that affects their ability to read printed works.

Who Doesn't Automatically Qualify?

People with disabilities such as:

• intellectual disabilities

• attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

• hearing loss

• dysgraphia

• dyscalculia

• or English language learners

Qualifying Akoma Cares Members will be able to check ebooks out from Bookshares extensive library of books utilizing Akoma Care’s organizational account.

Unable to qualify?

An approved Akoma team member can check out and download ebooks on your behalf.
