My 13 yr old wants to learn more geography and I thought it would be a great opp for her and her 8 yr old brother to learn together. Are there any books are learning materials that would make learning geography for multi age groups easier?

We started with the read aloud picture book of Africa is not a Country and discussed each region as it came up in the book. We found the region on the globe saw where it was in relation to North America and discussed the landforms and climate of each region. We would then label a blank map of Africa with what we found. From Africa we went to North America focusing on America and started with SC going through the 13 colonies and states we have visited. We continue to discuss climate, landforms and where these things are in relation to us, find them on a blank map and label the capitals. We do this once a week for about 20 minutes in our Family Subjects portion of the day. I’m going to look into Stack the States! Sounds pretty cool.
Stack the States 2 and Stack the Countries are really fun apps that teach geography and facts about each state/country.
I have some board games that help teach geography, depending on where you are planning on starting.
I came back to say that we have some books here that you’re more than welcome to borrow. Do you know what type of geography you want to narrow it down to? (World or US Geo?)
This has served as a challenge for me. I haven’t been able to find one that isn’t heavy on the Eurocentric conservative Christian perspectives. Human Geography will be my oldest’s first official geography class because of this. We’ve tried incorporating geography into our homeschool by playing games, roadschooling when we can, and documentaries, but no curriculum has ever worked for us. Not even as a reference book. I hope someone posts with some suggestions!
