Civil Rights Art Contest for Highschoolers

Visit the FREE Exhibit "Intersection on Main Street: African American Life in Columbia", located in the Columbia Museum of Art’s Our Story Matters gallery.  There's also a virtual 360 tour of the exhibit if you can't get to the museum in person, maybe need a refresher from the last time you were able to go in person. Then, submit an original artwork

– Poetry).

Four winners will be selected from each category. Winning students will receive the following:  

• First Place: $400 

• Second Place: $300 

• Third Place: $200 

• Honorable Mention: $100

First, second, and third place winners in the traditional, visual, and photography categories will have their art displayed for public viewing in downtown Columbia (location TBD).

First place creative nonfiction and poetry winners will have their work published in the Spring 2025 issue of The Jasper Project literary magazine and its online platform, Jasper Online. Second and third place winners’ work will also be featured on the online platform.
