Celebrating Neurodiversity in Our Community: A Success Story from Our Annual Event

Every year, our organization proudly hosts the Neurodiversity Among Us event to celebrate and educate the African American community about neurodiversity. This event raises awareness and serves as a crucial fundraising opportunity supporting our disability advocacy efforts within the community.

This year, we are thrilled to share the incredible impact made possible through the funds raised from this event. With your generous support, we were able to purchase supplies for six student sensory kits, designed to enhance the learning experience for children in our classrooms.  

These sensory kits include essential tools such as noise-canceling headphones, timers, fidget toys, and reading strips—all aimed at helping students stay engaged and focused during classroom activities.

We recognize that for many students, access to these resources at home or in other educational settings may be limited. Our sensory kits ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive learning environment.

The feedback from teachers and students has been overwhelmingly positive. The sensory kits have not only improved focus and involvement in classroom activities but have also provided a sense of comfort and security for those who may feel overwhelmed in traditional learning settings.
